Sep 11, 2010: Train Meeting & Trip to Portland, OR

Join us for our first-ever on-train meeting and trip on Amtrak’s Cascades to and from Portland, Oregon (PDX) on Saturday, September 11. We will be riding Cascades Train 501 down, and returning on Train 508 in the evening. We will be trying to secure a group coach (or maybe two coaches) for us all to ride together in, but you will be responsible for purchasing your own tickets and train reservations. We will work with Amtrak staff to make sure you’re boarded at the right coach with us, whether you get on at Seattle, or further south. Then, once we get to Portland, you’ll have an exciting choice of ‘shore excursions’ . . . almost like a cruise ship. Right now, we are planning tours to Powell’s Books, as well as on the MAX and Streetcar systems, and an opportunity to tour Brooklyn Roundhouse and its steam engines.
